Faahkir Bestman was born in one of the most impoverished and violent places on earth - the Cape Flats. But he dreams of becoming a ballet star and travelling the world. He started dancing at the age of 6 because it made Akeeda, his severely disabled baby sister, smile. His extraordinary talent took him to the Royal Ballet School in London and the Joffrey in New York. But following a flirtation with drugs and mental breakdown he was forced to return to South Africa. Now recovered he is starring in a sensational new ballet.

Thuso is black and Soweto and Seth is white, from Johannesburg's blue collar southern suburbs. They are both on the same team, representing their province - Gauteng South. Over the five years they get different opportunities and make very different use of them.
